Adoption is the process which changes the relationship between a child and their birth parents. Adoption transfers the legal rights and responsibilities from the birth parents to the adoptive parents.
Recently changes were made to the law in Queensland that affect:
i. Couples considering adopting a child in Queensland or from overseas;
ii. People considering adoption for their child;
iii. Adoptive or birth parents of a child adopted in Queensland; and
iv. Step-parents applying to adopt their step-child
